nice guys finish last? we'll find out..

soundcheck: deadbeat holiday (green day)
Grudges come back to haunt us
Your oldest allies are your long lost enemies

the girls won their match today, and obviously the guys are all ecstatic for them. they were super disciplined, attcked when they needed to, and defended like lions.. sorry, lionesses.. yet, something abt today worries me.. it has nothing to do with the girls, not one bit.. they fully deserved to win, and all credit goes to them.. it's just that perhaps the high & euphoria of last fri still has not died down among the guys, and i shudder to think if that should manifest in one way or another in our preps for tmr.. to be honest, i don't think it was politically-correct, nor respectful, for them to be playing on the pitch so soon aft the girls were done.. it's understandable that they're now full of enthusiasm.. i am, we all are.. but the pt is, we shouldn't doing it right smack in the faces of the rj ppl.. yes, i know that was never the intentioon, but put ourselves in their shoes.. you've just suffered a painful, narrow defeat, and yet there these ppl are, playing & joking metres in front of you..

honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if they are esp fired up for tmr.. you could see it their eyes aft the girl's match.. as it is, they have some scores to settle with us, brought forward from last year's draw.. also, it's the semis, so there's everything to play for.. i'm not belittling our team, nor am i placing rj on a pedestal, but as it is, they can easily win most jc teams.. but if they're fired up, there aren't many who can take them.. i just pray that somehow, in whatever way, calm and humble heads from us will prevail tmr, or we can kiss our a div dreams goodbye.. pls don't get me wrong, i am in no way writing our team's chances, i'm just stressing the need for humility with regards to tmr.. let's be saints and accord rj the respect due, but that will take a backseat once the whistle blows.. i am sure of it

15 May 2007
this is the day we've been training & running & lifting weights for. of course we all want to win, (who wouldn't want to beat the defending champs?), but i don't think winning shld be the main priority.. it's impt, of course, but not the MOST vital.. giving a respectable and fearful account is.. by that, i mean to say that aft our performance tmr, teams like rj & vj will no longer look at us as easy meat, but know that we are a very real threat.. vj has alr found that out, it's time we did the same to the other 06 a div finalist..

quote of the day: if you can't find the grace to accept defeat, then you don't deserve the humility to accept victory.
