soundcheck: for you i will (teddy geiger)
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
That's what I'd do to get through to you
Do I seem familiar? I've crossed you in the hallways
a thousand times
No more camouflage, I want to be exposed
and not be afraid to fall
ahh, here i am, once again.. there are just so many things running thru me head that i honestly dunno where to start.. ok, i'll try my best to start right from the beginning..against all odds. scorching sun. heart pounding, andrenaline gushing. distress & euphoria. tears & laughter. that's just abt sums up how my afternoon.
today, God must have been smiling upon us throughout the match, right from the first whistle, to half time, to the open goal, to the final whistle, to the endless flicks and finally our madcap celebrations.. pardon me if i sound more disjointed today than usual, but to be honest, my heart hasn't fully calmed yet.. in the short 2 hrs, i must have cut short my life by at least 5 yrs, no joke.. but what better company to do it with than saintshockey.. this afternoon was something that only happens in movies.. i really couldn't kneel with my brothers during the flicks, i really could not.. i had to stand and take it all in; win or lose, hit or miss, i just wanted to take it all in.. when that poor vj guy flicked that decisive ball, it wasn't nazry that saved it, nor was it sajchockey.. it was God, my Father.. all thanks & glory goes to Him.. it really was Him..
now that we're thru to semis, we'll need to re-focus & look ahead to rjc.. obviously they'll be tougher to break down than acsi, but at the end of the day, no matter how decorated their players are, we're all the same.. on tues, at delta, when the first whistle blows, all 22 on the field will all have 2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 nose & 1 mouth..it will still be 11-a-side, and we'll still be playing with the same white, round ball.. the list goes on, but my pt is this: the winner is and always will be a family of 20, not a team of 5, 11, or one superstar hotshot.. they can think whatever they wanna think, but i believe we've played together long enough to know that being in the semis didn't come easy- it wasn't our entitlement based on last yr.. we had to shout, scream, sweat, bleed, cry and laugh to get to where we are.. we've come back from a man down to hold one team, who knows what we can do with 11? last year's guys held rj goalless, so can the class of 06/07. sorry, let me rephrase it: so WILL we..
yet, in the midst of all these ra-ra rallying of troops, we still have to be prepared in the case of defeat.. today, that cup was passed from us, we may well have to drink from it come tues.. whatever it is, whether we taste victory or not, we will walk out of delt with our heads held high.. maybe a damp eye here and a snifle there, but at the end of the day, while we all want badly to win & get into the final, let's leave our hearts out on the pitch..
come to think of it, we resemble man utd 07 in more ways than one..
for every sub on those velvet seats, we have 9 players willing to die on the pitch (i don't take this lightly)
for every defence, we have focused men
for every midfield quartet, we have fighters
for every forward, we have fire
for every Hairdryer treatment, we have our very own in mrdanker
for every physio, we have our mr reliable b.soh
for every Old Trafford, we have our dear Saints fans
man utd just ended up as champions, let this be an omen of sorts too..
there's still trng tmr, so let's all rest well, gear up, and move towards tues. delta. 15 00 hrs.
1 hour, 60 mins
everything we've worked for
every lap we've blazed
every tear we've cried
it's now or never
it's time for war
like never before
that just abt sums up my afternoon. how abt yours?
peace..
